Oregon Plot Twist!

We were supposed to be in Bullard's Beach state park by now... Yesterday morning after we left our one night stay at Burns RV park we stopped in the tiny town of Burns for a quick breakfast before we humped it out to the coast. I hopped in the truck since I like to drive in the morning, except it wouldn't move. It didn't take us long to figure out that the brakes on our trailer would not disengage except when we unplugged the brake control from our truck.

So, Ian called around and found a ford dealer about an hour and 40 minutes away. We drove to a town called Prineville to a small Ford dealership. The people in Prineville are by far the nicest people we've met along our journey. They are like freakishly nice... The backed up service shop pulled their only 2015 F-150 certified tech off what he was doing to look at our truck. Turns out we have a bad chip in the electronic trailer braking system. They ordered the part but it won't be in until Thursday.

Our friends who we met up with in Yellowstone and were supposed to meet up with again in Bullard's beach had broken down the night before just outside of Boise ID. What a crazy coincidence! Our friends suggested Bend as a meeting point as it was as far as they wanted to drive from Boise and it was close to where we were so we could get back to Prineville on Thursday morning.

Low and behold our friends travel trailer suffered another mishap putting them behind another day, but they are coming and tomorrow we'll all be exploring Crater Lake together, about 40 minutes south west of where we are in Bend.

Bend... Good Lord what an amazing stroke of luck. I was super bummed out about missing the Oregon coast, I shouldn't have been. Bend OR is such a cool town. It has an Austin vibe but the people are way nicer and it's smaller with a population of just over 80,000 people.

Tonight Phish is playing at the Old Mill District, where we've been doing most of our hanging out so far. There are shops and restaurants, walking paths, a dog park and best of all the Deschutes River that runs thru the middle of it all.

Did I mention the snow capped mountain views and the night sky? Last night we looked up at the sky and marveled at the how many stars we could see and I swear it felt like a dome, like you could feel or see the curve of the earth. It was absolutely amazing.

I love Bend so much, I don't want to leave. I could live here forever. It's beautiful, clean, it's got a hip vibe and there are tons of things to do and sights to see.

We talked about upgrading to a bigger travel trailer and spending summers here. We'll see!!!
