Pacific Coast Highway (Hwy 1 California)

If you can... If you have the time and the means available go drive the PCH. Drive the area between Monterey and San Simeon.

Spend some time in Monterey and visit their amazing aquarium. Have lunch in Carmel by the sea. Hike Pfeiffer falls and go to Point Lobos, stay a couple nights in Big Sur.

I've done all these things, sadly just not on this trip. As we drove the PHC to get to Malibu as soon as we hit Monterey we were both asking ourselves, why didn't we book time to stay here again.

The sights are otherworldly along this stretch of PHC.

We did stop at Lucia's Lodge for lunch, we dined there 3 years ago when we stayed in the area. It was just as wonderful this time around. We had lunch sitting on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and watched whales play as we dined.

Our future trip planning is getting out of control, as we must visit and stay in this area of California again.

I didn't take a lot of pictures along this route because we already have hundreds from our previous trip.
