Status Update: 2 Humans 2 dogs and a cat

I haven't been able to post on the blog because we've had spotty internet coverage and honestly it takes more effort than I've been willing to put in after long days of sightseeing or driving.

Since my last post we've been to Salem, MA, Bar Harbor, ME and Burlington, VT.

We vacationed in Salem about 10 years ago, so we were excited to visit again. We had two full days here, we spent one day walking around the town, we did one touristy Salem witch experience and the next day we took our pups to Minutemen National Park. It was neat to see the where the start of the revolutionary war started and the home of Ralph Waldo Emerson's grandfather.

Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park were absolutely beautiful, we loved it. The views from Cadillac Mountain was breathtaking. We hiked a lot, rode our bikes and took our pups exploring. My legs hurt for 3 days!!! The weather was beautiful the entire time we were there.

In Vermont, the weather couldn't have been more beautiful. We stayed at a park on Lake Champlain. We spent time on Church St. and ate at amazing restaurants, we visited some great parks on the lake and took the pups to a popular dog park where Emma made friends and Darwin made a couple enemies.

Our trip had a little plot twist when we left Vermont. We headed to the Adirondack Mountains, to a park called Great Escape. We arrived after a 2.5 hour drive to what appeared to be a closed RV park. There was one lady in the office who told us the park closed down on the 10th and someone was supposed to call us. I'd made the reservation online thru a third party RVing club website.

We looked for a park nearby but just about everything was shut down for the season, ultimately we decided to find a pet friendly hotel for the night. Plus, I was seriously stressing out about possibly missing the debate. We drove a couple more hours to Syracuse and got a suite at Residence Inn. We had 30 min before the debate started, I told the check in girl I needed to get in the room ASAP so I could watch who will be our first female president whoop up on Trump, she laughed and upgraded me to a two bedroom so my pups would have plenty of room to run around. This made me happy!!!

Oh, the bliss of being in a hotel room. Don't get me wrong the camper is nice, but it was hella nice to sleep in a bigger bed, have three TVs, wifi, oh and a bathtub with endless hot water. And a great breakfast in the morning.

We were able to add a few days on to our reservation at the park in Niagara Falls, so we drove a couple hours in the rain to the park, that was yesterday and it's rained non-stop.

All this rain really sucks, more for the dogs and Pepper than for Ian and I, they are cooped up in the camper, except for a couple walks in the rain.

This morning I was feeling pretty home sick. While showering I was actually contemplating how many hours it would take us to haul ass home. I got myself together tho and we headed out to the mall where I got some cool rain boots and then we went to see The Account (go see it, it was awesome).

This trip has been largely underwhelming compared to our trip out west last summer. It was worth it to go to Bar Harbor, Maine tho. We've got plans to go salmon fishing in the Niagara river on Monday, so we're looking forward to that.

I'm really looking forward to the last leg of this trip and spending some time in Asheville, one of our favorite spots to visit, but first we have a stop in Gettysburg, PA and then Asheville and then Savannah, GA - another town we enjoy visiting.

In the future trips to the east coast, past Charlotte will be by air only. I never need to drive up the east coast again.

It had actually been difficult planning this trip, we wanted to see Maine and everything in between but the pull to go west was always there. This morning Ian reminded me, we wouldn't know if we hadn't done it. True...

Still, today I found myself reminiscing about the splendor of Oregon lakes with mountain backdrops, the smell of lavender thick in the air in Santa Fe, NM and driving the pacific coast Hwy in northern California. We'll do it again.

I've had ideas in the past that I could once again someday live in a cold climate, I've determined my ideas are delusions. God I miss the Florida heat right now.

For the past couple years we've talked about going to Norway or possibly spending a summer back in Homer Alaska, which we also fell in love with. Today, Ian said, I sent you a beautiful picture taken in Norway. I think that settled it, for me at least. I have some trip planning to do. Next summer we're going to Norway.
